There may be millions of people today that are suffering from hair loss and a majority of them are men. Losing the hair is one of the common problems associated with the natural aging process. Although there are some young people who experience loss of hair, most victims are the ones around the age of 40. Male pattern baldness is one of the most common factors that are associated with hair loss, but there are still some other factors that cause this condition. Because of the number of people of having this condition, there are many products available in the market that claims to answer this problem. Many victims are not satisfied with the results they get. Thus many people are still on the search for treatments for this loss.
Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that involves moving individual hair follicles from one part of the body (the donor site) to bald or balding parts (the recipient site). It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness, whereby grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to bald scalp. However, it is also used to restore eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, chest hair, and pubic hair and to fill in scars caused by accidents or surgery such as face-lifts and previous hair transplants. Hair transplantation differs from skin grafting in that grafts contain almost all of the epidermis and dermis surrounding the hair follicle, and many tiny grafts are transplanted rather than a single strip of skin.
The hair transplant is basically a method where hair that grows from above the ears and at the back of the head is transplanted to the bald areas. The hair above the ear and at the back of the head would grow back as they are programmed to grow. As a result, the bald area will now have healthy hair growing all over again. Even if the hair is transplanted in the bald area, they will always grow back again.
On the discovery of the hair transplant, many people once again believed that this procedure could solve their never ending fight with hair loss. It was introduced by Dr. Norman Orentreich in the year of 1950. Since then, there are some that have permanently solved their hair loss problem.. |
